Kindness Concert
The first Kindness Concert took place in summer of 2023; it was an exciting evening with beautiful music and raffles prizes! The aim of the concert is to showcase talented local artists and raise money for VKM to lead more initiatives.
Participating in Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY)
‘Coldest Night of the Year’ (CNOY) is an annual fundraising event that takes Canadians out of the comfort of their homes to walk and raise money for homelessness. In February 2023, the VKM team and volunteers were able to feel a hint of the challenge homeless people face on a daily basis while walking out in the freezing Canadian winter.
Share-Wich Day
One of our highlight winter events at VKM is our annual Share-Wich Day. The VKM team invited youth from all over to come together to make sandwiches and meal kits for local charity, Surrey Urban Mission (SUMS place).
Shoreline Cleanups
At the Vancouver Kindness Movement, we organize 2-3 beach, park, or community clean-ups annually to encourage youth volunteerism as well as promote climate action. These events are completely free - our youth team provides all the materials needed for volunteers. We welcome everyone to attend! No experience needed.
Pink Shirt Day Fundraiser
To celebrate Pink Shirt Day or Anti-Bullying Day, our team designed and produced custom pink ‘Kindness’ shirts to support our programs throughout the year. Each shirt was carefully designed by our team: from printing on vinyl, ironing the shirts, and carefully wrapping them up with custom VKM stickers. We thank you for supporting our organization!
Random Acts of Kindness Day
Every Random Acts of Kindness Day, VKM does random acts of kindness to strangers in our community.
DEWC Tote Bag Fundraiser x INDIGO CAFE
The Vancouver Kindness Movement team organized a tote bag fundraiser to support the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre last December 2021. We developed several tote bag designs, printed them onto bags, and sold them at various community squares across Metro Vancouver.
Xetoclaw Community School Donation Drive
To support Indigenous communities, the VKM team worked with the St. Matthew’s Youth Ministry to fundraise for school supplies for Xetoclaw Community School, located on the Líl̓wat Nation near Mt. Currie, BC.
Love Where You Learn (LWYL)
Inspired by the City of Surrey’s Love Where You Live project, our Love Where You Learn (LWYL) program focuses on empowering students to keep their school campuses clean through the spirit of environmental stewardship.
